The women of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau went on a supermarket shopping spree in Tulsa Friday morning for charity.

They'll donate $1,000 worth of food to both the Ronald McDonald houses in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

It's all for "Food Check Out Day," which started back in 1974. The idea is to show how safe and how much food Americans can buy and to share it with those who don't.

Event organizers say because of the farm industry, food is a bargain. By February the average American has earned enough to pay for food for the entire year.
