NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ An Oklahoma freshman basketball player has made the midseason list of candidates for a prestigious award.
Courtney Paris was one of five players added Thursday as a candidate for the Wooden Award, which is given to the nation's best women's player. Paris leads the nation in rebounding and is among the nation's leaders in scoring and blocked shots.
She's helped Oklahoma to its current number-11 ranking and a record of 18-and-4.
She's one of two freshmen on the 20-player list, along with Candace Parker of Tennessee. Only one other Big 12 Conference player is on the list: Sophia Young of Baylor.
