A major traffic accident on Interstate-44 near Harvard slowed rush hour traffic for hours early Tuesday morning.

Around 5AM Tuesday, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers say the driver of a semi truck slammed into two cars.

The driver told Troopers he was westbound when he heard something break which caused him to lose control.

The truck then hit a car going westbound, lost control in the median and struck an eastbound car before tipping on its side.

The drivers of the two cars were hospitalized. No word on their conditions.

The truck driver was not injured in the accident.

Both lanes of westbound traffic was diverted onto the service road during the clean up of the scene.

One eastbound lane was left open during the clean up process.
