A woman is in custody after a Muskogee Police shooting at a Muskogee mall. It happened outside the Arrowhead Mall in Muskogee Tuesday.
Investigators say two Muskogee County Sheriff’s deputies approached a woman in a car about some warrants for embezzlement allegations. Investigators say Nicole Purkey revved the engine, and as one deputy reached inside the vehicle, she tried to drive off.
Muskogee County Undersheriff Juston Hutchinson: "the suspect put the vehicle in reverse, dragging the officer. When she did, she slammed into another vehicle in front of the mall. She then put the vehicle in drive dislodging officer Banks and coming directly at Deputy Ben Webb."
Deputy Webb fired one shot hitting Purkey in the chest.
Purkey continued to drive off, but was found a few blocks away. She's being treated at a Muskogee hospital and will be OK.
Purkey now faces additional charges. The deputies escaped serious injuries.
