Tulsa volunteers started a Habitat for Humanity home Monday afternoon to honor the memory of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
Ground was broken at 2714 East 27th Street North for the "Building on the Dream" home. It's going to be built by volunteers from the University of Tulsa, who helped raise money for construction.
East Tulsa Dodge donated $20,000 for the home, which will go to a family with children, now living in an apartment. Habitat homeowner Rhonda Jamison: "this is going to be a big change for our family, just having a place for the children to play and having a home of our own."
The new home will be the 16th Habitat for Humanity home in the neighborhood - and 21 more are planned in the same area.
