BETHANY, Okla. (AP) -- A Bethany nursing home administrator and a Tulsa nurse are among 14 winners of the 2005 Cherokee Inspired Comfort Award.
The honor is given to outstanding health care professionals by Cherokee Uniforms, a leading manufacturer of health care apparel.
Barbie Harter of Grace Living Center was awarded for assisting a young, Mexican woman at her facility who had been injured by a drunken driver.
Harter sought medical donations and legal advocacy for the woman, who now lives with her family in Oklahoma and is pursuing US citizenship.
Mary Hayes, of Girling Home Health Care in Tulsa, created a powwow to promote wellness and sobriety among Native Americans and other communities.
Hayes also enlisted the local chamber of commerce to help support her goal of what she calls "wellbriety" among local citizens.
