OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin is pushing for legislation that would protect the jobs of employees who serve as volunteer firefighters.
The legislation would also include protecting the jobs of reserve law enforcement officers during wildfires and other state emergencies.
Fallin says one volunteer firefighter has lost his job because of the amount of time he spent helping extinguish grassfires.
She says it's unfair to jeopardize the livelihood of those who volunteer in public safety capacities.
