2005 was a record breaking year for the Tulsa Fire Department.
Tulsa firefighters were called to more than 50,000 fires this year. That's almost 4,000 more calls than last year. Firefighters say in half of the fatal house fires they responded to, the homes did not have a smoke detector or it didn't work.
On an encouraging note, firefighters installed 798 smoke alarms in homes this year.
