A firefighting helicopter is on stand-by in Tulsa, along with four members of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
They’re waiting for the call to help should a wildfire start in northeastern Oklahoma. The Blackhawk helicopter is equipped with large buckets that hold more than 600 gallons of water at a time.
Jay Jones with the Oklahoma Army National Guard: "we just locate the nearest water source, as long as it’s clean and deep enough, hover over the water, start fighting the fire. When we drop it all goes out at one time, we can hit spot fires or afire along a line or put out a fire in some trees."
Another firefighting helicopter is on stand-by in Lexington.
