OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma is being recognized as a leader in helping teachers bring international themes into their classrooms.
A report by the Asia Society identifies teacher development and eleven other areas where states promote international education. Oklahoma appeared under three categories.
The longest Oklahoma mention, listed under teacher development, describes the Oklahoma Association Supporting International Studies, or OASIS. The group trains teachers to incorporate international studies in the classroom.
Funding for OASIS comes from the Asia Society and the Longview Foundation. OASIS projects include workshops where teachers work with other teachers to integrate international content into their classrooms.
