OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Attorney General Drew Edmondson and officials with ConocoPhillips signed an agreement Wednesday intended to reduce access to tobacco by minors.

The Assurance of Voluntary Compliance requires ConocoPhillips to check the ID of people buying tobacco products if they appear to be under 35. The company will also train its convenience store employees on state and local laws and company policies regarding the sale of tobacco.

Also, independent checks will be made twice a year at all company stores to make sure the stores are complying with the policy.
