OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state lawmaker says he'll meet with General Motors officials today in an effort to find a way to keep the Oklahoma City GM plant open.
GM announced last month it will close the Oklahoma City plant and eight others as part of a cost-cutting move.
But Representative Richard Morrissette of Oklahoma City is hoping to convince GM to keep the plant open, possibly by producing minivans instead of the sport utility vehicles that are currently assembled there.
Morrissette says he'll meet with GM and United Auto Workers officials and Congressman Tom Cole at Cole's office in Norman.
