OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Police have tentatively identified a man shot and wounded by a police officer shortly before midnight outside a northeast Oklahoma City.
Captain Jeff Becker says Sergeant Jeff Cooper was investigating a report of someone driving recklessly in the parking lot of Tinseltown USA and found a man believed to be Luis Grimaldo-Cervantes standing by a car behind the theater.
Becker says the man was carrying a gun and began walking rapidly toward Cooper, then began to raise the pistol and Cooper opened fire. Becker says the gun was found at the scene and is a BB gun that's a replica of a small .45 caliber pistol.
Grimaldo-Cervantes was hit at least twice and is now hospitalized but hasn't been interviewed because he's under medication.
Becker says Cooper is on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation into the shooting.
