OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has approved a more than $42-million rate increase for Oklahoma Gas and Electric.
OG&E spokesman Brian Alford says the increase will go into effect next month and mean residential customers will pay about $3 more per month on their utility bills. Alford says small businesses and large industrial customers will see a small decrease in their monthly bills.
The order signed by the commission last night includes a summertime assistance program to help low-income customers and a program allowing customers the option of paying the same amount each month.
OG&E had asked for an $89-million increase.
OG&E has about 744,000 customers in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
