OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State representative Fred Perry says he's filed a bill that would implement an "Amber Alert" for senior citizens.
Currently, Oklahoma's "Amber Alert" system is used to quickly notify authorities across the state when a child is missing.
He says he wants to call it the "Silver Alert" because it involves senior citizens and because the bill was requested by the Oklahoma Silver Haired Legislature.
The OSHL passed the resolution at its annual meeting in October.
Perry says senior citizens with dementia or Alzheimer's disease could be most at risk of wandering away from home.
Perry says his bill would amend the current "Amber Alert" statutes to include the "Silver Alert" legislation.
