PONCA CITY (AP) A Ponca City man is killed after losing control of his motorcycle and slamming into a concrete culvert.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 23-year-old Earl McCartney was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened about 3:20 Sunday afternoon just west of Ponca City.

The patrol says McCartney was eastbound on North Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle, went off the roadway and hit a concrete culvert.
