CHECOTAH, Okla. (AP) -- A disabled Checotah man is hospitalized in critical condition after being burned over nearly half his body by a wildfire that destroyed his trailer home.

Police say 60-year-old Kenneth Ruth was found burned near his home and taken to Hillcrest Burn Center in Tulsa.

Investigators say Ruth apparently went inside his burning home to save his cats and was burned as the fire leveled the mobile home.
