OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An attempt by Oklahoma County prosecutors to ban prostitutes from targeted areas of the city is being questioned by defense attorneys as unconstitutional.
Oklahoma County Public Defender Bob Ravitz calls the policy extreme.
Since April, guidelines on what areas of the city people convicted for prostitution are allowed to be in has been a condition of plea agreements in Oklahoma County.
The agreements prohibit convicted persons from being in areas known for prostitution, except under certain conditions like visiting family members or going to a legitimate job.
Assistant District Attorney Lynne McGuire says she believes the agreements are a creative way to stop prostitution.
