ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) _ A 3-year-old girl was in the custody of the Department of Human Services Thursday following her abduction from a southern Oklahoma home, Carter County officials said.
Josie Hunter Violet Hensley was taken Wednesday night from a home in Gene Autry. She was turned in to authorities early Thursday by her mother, Jessica Dawn Hensley, 21, and grandmother, Sherry Lynn Hensley, 36, Sheriff Harvey Burkhart said.
A statewide Amber Alert that was issued for the girl by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was canceled about 2 AM.
The two women were being held by Carter County authorities although no charges had been filed, Burkhart said.
