A Tulsa charity has reason to give thanks. Tuesday, the News on 6 took you to the John 3:16 Family Center, where hundreds of needy families were getting everything for their own Thanksgiving dinners. Still, the mission said they were running dangerously low on supplies.
Wednesday afternoon, the Bank of America presented John 3:16's Steve Whitaker with a check for $20,000. Bank representatives say they were inspired by the season of giving and by a story they saw on the News on 6.
Travis Van Valkenberg with the Bank of America: "And hearing on the news the need for additional turkeys to hand out to everyone this year, that's what made us step up and want to give back."
Steve Whitaker: "We're very grateful to the Bank of America for giving this money and making it possible and to the rest of the community for giving and giving and giving."
The donation is enough to provide more than 10,000 Thanksgiving dinners.
