OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Energy experts say the petroleum pipelines that run through Oklahoma could be used to carry the fuel that will power the cars of the future.
Members of the Oklahoma Fuel Cell Initiative Task Force shared their latest research in a press conference at the state Capitol Tuesday.
The group is looking for a way to convert Oklahoma's pipelines into structures that would be fit to transport a hydrogen-based fuel used to power hydrogen cars.
Hydrogen possesses corrosive properties that could be detrimental to Oklahoma's current pipelines.
Oklahoma Secretary of Energy David Fleischaker says he wants the state to be at the forefront of research development in alternative energy.
