The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma was expected to vote Tuesday on a resolution in support of a creationism exhibit at the Tulsa Zoo that's caused some controversy. Members discussed it, but the resolution was pulled from the table.

News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says convention representatives say the resolution wasn't passed because it missed the deadline to be considered.

Exhibit creator Dan Hicks was expecting an endorsement from the Baptist Convention, but this isn't the first time he's seen his support fade. The Tulsa Zoo board originally approved his creationism display, but later overruled that decision.

Hicks says since the Tulsa Zoo's last decision, other churches have gotten behind the display, and copies of the proposed display hang in several churches in the metro area. He says he hasn't given up the fight to include the display at the zoo. "And I think when the Christian community recognizes how foundational this is to their faith; they'll demand that this be included when you also have Hinduism, New Age philosophy, African theology, and evolution. Certainly, the Creationist view should be included."

Hicks says he and supporters are petitioning the one man who can have the display put up all by himself, Tulsa mayor Bill LaFortune.
