GRANITE, Okla. (AP) Corrections officials say one inmate remained hospitalized following a fight between black and white inmates at the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite.
Department of Corrections spokesman Jim Rabon says the brawl broke out about 6:30 Sunday evening and several inmates received minor injuries.
The other inmates were treated and returned to their cells. Rabon said he didn't know the extent of the injuries of the inmate who remained hospitalized.
He said an ongoing investigation will look at whether the disturbance was racially motivated.
A fight with racial overtones this summer led to the death of one inmate from multiple stab wounds at Granite, which is a medium-security prison in southwestern Oklahoma.
Four inmates have died in violent incidents at prisons across the state this year.
Governor Brad Henry expanded a special session call to include prison funding. The Senate approved an $11 million appropriation but the Republican-led House refused to meet.
