A World War II hero received a very special honor Friday, 60 years after his service.
83-year old Oral Wynn was a private in the Army in World War II. He was honored Friday at Charles Page High School in Sand Springs and presented with five new medals for his service.
Wynn lost some of him medals after the war, and forgot about them. Last year, his wife contacted the government to try to get them back.
He finally received a letter saying his medals were on their way. Private First Class Wynn says he can now close that chapter of his life. "I'm proud of them, I'm proud of this uniform. I felt honored. When I got them, it didn't make that much difference to me. But reading that letter, it brought me back a long ways."
Students also honored other Sand Springs veterans who gave their lives for this country.
