A Wall Street Journal report on Oklahoma's prison staffing problems is prompting new calls for a special legislative session. It says Oklahoma has 1,968 corrections officers on the job. And those officers oversee 23,000 inmates.

The head of the state workers union says the shortage creates a security problem inside and outside prison walls.

A spokesperson for state House Speaker Todd Hiett says Republicans remain opposed to a special session, and Democrats are engaging in a political stunt.
