The mother of one of the missing Welch girls says she believes Jeremy Jones was involved in her daughter's disappearance, but Lauria Bible's mother also says she believes the convicted killer has another motive for confessing.
News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims says Lorene Bible says she thinks Jeremy Jones is using this confession as a bargaining chip. She believes he's trying to get off of Alabama's death row and he's going to keep talking to try to save his own life.
As she watched Wednesday's press conference, Lorene Bible did say she feels closer to solving the mystery of her daughter's disappearance. She says Jeremy Jones knows too much to not know what happened to her daughter.
Bible's daughter Lauria spent the night at her friend Ashley Freeman's house in December of 1999. And never came home. Ashley Freeman's parents were found shot to death in their burned out trailer. The girls have never been found.
Over the years, Lorene has tried to keep their names in the media and she says she thinks that paid off. "The Nichols case in Alabama, you know he shot and killed her and burned her up in a trailer, or wherever she was in. And, the girls' case was high enough profile that they called and said, 'Hey, we have a guy here that you might want to look at, and he did live in your area at that time.' And you know, otherwise, it would've been like some of the others, not high enough profile to even link them, because they're cold cases."
Although Lorene Bible is certain Jeremy Jones was involved, she also believes he did not act alone.
