Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole says he will happily give up the title as Congress' only member of an American Indian tribe.

The Oklahoma Republican made the announcement Monday at the 62nd annual meeting of the National Congress of American Indians. He urged the 3,000 tribal leaders to get involved in federal politics and join him on Capitol Hill.

Cole also urged the tribes to maintain their cultural identity and make it clear that sovereignty is nonnegotiable.
