ALTUS, Okla. (AP) -- Golden algae is believed to be the cause of a fish kill in the city reservoir, Public Works Director Robert Stephenson said Wednesday.
It would be the second consecutive year the toxic, microscopic organism appeared in the reservoir for this city in southwest Oklahoma. It not dangerous to humans, Stephenson said.
He said most of the fish killed were shad with a few crappie and bass. He said there were 80 to 100 pounds of fish killed.
