CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) -- A Meeker man has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly beating his 2-year-old stepdaughter to death.
Michael Porter remained in the Lincoln County Jail Tuesday without bond following his arrest Thursday on a murder complaint in the death of Kelsey Shelton Smith-Briggs.
Porter is accused of striking the child in the abdomen earlier this month, causing a blunt force trauma and inflicting mortal wounds.
An affidavit says Kelsey had a lot of bleeding in her intestines and bruising on the pressure points of her ribs, the front of her chest, side and back.
Records indicate that she had bruises in other areas of her body and medical examiners believe she suffered from possible kneeing, punching or squeezing.
Among the state's witnesses are Kelsey's mother Rae Dawn Porter and Kelsey's grandmother Gayla Smith.
