OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma first lady Kim Henry will be in Washington DC on Wednesday to take part in launching the National Guard Youth Challenge Foundation's First Spouses Initiative.
She and Alaska first lady Nancy Murkowski will be part of a luncheon event announcing the initiative, which seeks to raise awareness and educate leaders about the Youth Challenge program.
The program is aimed at helping youth improve life skills, education levels, fitness and employment potential.
It provides a forum for dropouts to return to high school, earn a GED, enroll in college, start a career or join the military.
Mrs. Henry is a member of the board that oversees Thunderbird Academy near Pryor in northeastern Oklahoma. That school is part of the Youth Challenge Foundation program.
