OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma City police have arrested a man for helping the driver of a stolen motorcycle who led an officer on a high speed chase that resulted in the officer being killed after crashing his patrol car.
Steven Jerry Madden is jailed on a felony complaint of being an accessory to a felony.
Captain Jeff Becker says Madden picked up Kyle Grider after Grider crashed the motorcyle moments after Sergeant Jonathan Dragus crashed his patrol car early yesterday while chasing the motorcycle in northwest Oklahoma City. Dragus died hours later at the OU Medical Center.
Becker says Madden took Grider to southwest Oklahoma City where Grider got clean clothes, then told Grider about hotels where he could hide from police.
Grider surrendered to police last night and is being held for second-degree murder and other charges.
Becker says police also arrested three other people who were contacted during the search for Grider.
Abbie Jane Berry and Donald Mallard for drug possession and Daniel Steeds was arrested for failing to appear in juvenile court.
