OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Congressman Ernest Istook has given the state Republican Party a $25,000 donation from his federal campaign fund.

The donation from his federal campaign fund was made last month before Istook announced he's running for governor and is reported in a filing with the Federal Election Commission.

State ethics rules prohibit Istook from transferring his federal campaign funds to his campaign for governor. A spokesman for Istook says the donation to the state party isn't necessarily connected to his race for governor.

The filing with the FEC says Istook has just more than $212,000 in his federal campaign account.
