OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A nonprofit group says Oklahoma City is one of the best places in the United States for young people.

America's Promise says the city is one of the 100 best communities in the nation because of MAPS for Kids. Voters approved the MAPS program which raised taxes to pay for school construction, renovation and upgrades in school technology.

America's Promise was founded in 1997 as an advocacy group for young people and tries to get cities to focus on the needs of children.

Oklahoma City is the only winning community in the state.
