OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry wrote a letter Friday to US Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns asking him to reconsider plans to close USDA Farm Service Agency county offices in Oklahoma.

Henry said the offices should remain open and readily accessible to the state's farmers and ranchers.

At a recent USDA Farm Bill Forum hosted in Oklahoma City, farmers expressed experiencing difficulty in getting timely information and accessing federal programs. USDA has already closed offices in some counties and reduced staffing in others.
