OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- House Speaker Todd Hiett says he'll make an announcement next week about a potential statewide campaign.
Most of the recent speculation about Hiett's future has focused on the lieutenant governor's race, especially since Republican Congressman Ernest Istook announced he'll run for governor.
Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin announced this week she will seek the Republican nomination for the congressional post Istook is relinquishing.
Denise Bode, a Republican Corporation Commissioner, also says she'll run.
In a news release Thursday Hiett gave no hint of what he will do. In September, Hiett said he was looking at the governor's race.
The first GOP speaker in more than eight decades, he is among a group of legislators who will be term-limited next year.
