OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency says more than 4,000 applications for assistance have been filed in Oklahoma by hurricane evacuees.

FEMA says 3,200 Hurricane Katrina evacuees have filed for help and more than 800 applications have been filed by Hurricane Rita evacuees.

FEMA says 729 families filed in Oklahoma City, 546 filed at Camp Gruber and 471 have filed in Tulsa. Another 242 families filed for assistance in Lawton and 157 in Norman.

Officials say that based on the applications, as many as 13,000 evacuees could be staying in the Sooner state.

The applications are filed by family and FEMA multiplies that number by 3.2 to estimate the number of evacuees.

FEMA spokeswoman Sue Evers says about 320 people are still living in shelters in Oklahoma.
