OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma is warning of a scam that claims to be raising money to help Hurricane Katrina victims.
The Red Cross says an e-mail is being sent asking for money to be sent to ``Thompson.J@redcross.com.''
Red Cross spokesman Ryan Teubner says the e-mail is not from the American Red Cross and that the Red Cross doesn't ask for donations through mass e-mails.
Teubner says the best way to donate to the Red Cross is online at www.redcross.org, by calling 800-435-7669 or by going to a local Red Cross chapter.
There are 20 Red Cross chapters in Oklahoma.
