ADA, Okla. (AP) _ A man abducted a 16-year-old Ada cheerleader at the end of the school day Friday at Ada High School, prompting authorities to issue a statewide alert, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten was last seen about 3 p.m. Friday getting into a dark green, late model Dodge pickup at gunpoint, officials said. She's described as white, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She was wearing an Ada High School cheerleading uniform and has shoulder-length, sandy-brown hair, officials said.
The suspect in the abduction is Jerry Don Savage, 47, a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 180 pounds with green eyes, Meyer said.
``He's supposed to be in possession of a gun and should be considered armed and dangerous,'' Meyer said.
Amber Alerts activate an early alert system and notify the public as well as law enforcement agencies outside of the jurisdiction where a child has been reported missing.
The system gained its name from Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old Arlington, Texas, girl who was kidnapped and killed in 1996.
