OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Fewer than half of the desired number of 3,500 retail ticket outlets have signed up to sell lottery tickets.
Lottery tickets are set to go on sale in less than three weeks, but lottery officials say many store owners are procrastinating filling out the necessary applications.
As of yesterday, 1,100 locations had been approved. About 600 more have been submitted.
Lottery director James Scroggins estimates that as many as 1,500 stores will be in place to sell scratch-off tickets October 12th.
But Scroggins says he still thinks 3,500 stores will sign up eventually.
