More than 600 Bixby students and one of their teachers received a very big surprise Thursday.

The Wal-Mart and Samâ€™s Club Foundation awarded Brassfield 5th grade teacher, Zella Ruleford, the Teacher of the Year award.

Along with the award, Ruleford received an honorary jacket, a certificate and a membership to the education association, Phi Delta Kappa. â€œI didn't get here by myself, all the people who got me where I am today; hope I do a good job of representing Bixby Schools."

The school also received a $10,000 educational grant.
