ANTLERS, Okla. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Antlers girl died early Sunday morning when her car skidded off US Highway 271 and overturned several times, ejecting her from the vehicle.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Ashley Phillips was taken to Pushmataha Memorial Hospital after Saturday night's accident and pronounced dead about 3:30 Sunday morning.
The patrol says Phillips was driving south on US 271 shortly before midnight last night when she lost control of her car, slid off the road into a fence and flipped the vehicle several times.
A 16-year-old passenger -- Billy Bruce of Antlers -- was treated and released from an area hospital.
The patrol says Phillips was NOT wearing a seat belt and that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
