Some Sand Springs students are learning first hand about the benefits of recycling.
On the last day of school last year, American Environmental Landfill put together a recycling program with the kids at Anderson Elementary.
Over the summer, the kids saved more than 250 trees and enough aluminum to run a three-bedroom house - in the summer - for a whole month.
Todd Green with American Environmental Landfill: "That's exciting stuff, especially when you look at. There was also some money coming back to them and there was avoidance of cost that would have been spent for disposal."
American Environmental Landfill has also helped build a cactus garden and a half-mile of nature trails for the school.
They plan to turn an old sewage lagoon behind the school into a ball field and running track.
