STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy says the Cowboys showed good effort during a 60-play scrimmage at Boone Pickens Stadium.

The scrimmage was closed to the public and the media but among the invited guests was former Texas A&M coach Jackie Sherrill.

Gundy says it was good for the players to be on the turf and that coaches tried to create a game-like atmosphere.

The Cowboys will hold a game-day walk-through Saturday as they prepare for next Saturday's season opener against Missouri State.

The walk-through is also closed to the public.
