Nearly a year after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, more than 3,400 displaced people still call Oklahoma home. Some would like to return to Louisiana. But housing is scarce, rent is skyrocketing, and New Orleans is still in disarray.
They say it's hard to believe a year has gone by since New Orleans was flooded.
Many evacuees say it's been extremely difficult starting from scratch. Danielle Decuir: "A lot of my family has not found work. My husband has been looking for a job for four months now. He still hasn't found anything. We were working in Louisiana. Everything, was you know. Our home was there and our jobs and everything was there."
Nearly 800 evacuees now live in the Tulsa area.
