OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state Senate task force on illegal immigrants is to begin meeting next month.
The committee was created by the state Legislature at the request of Senator Daisy Lawler of Comanche.
Lawler will chair the eleven-member task force and says it will look at the affect of illegal immigration on the cost of health care, prisons and other issues.
Lawler says Oklahoma is paying $7-million a year to keep illegal immigrants in prison and $10-million a year in health care for illegal immigrants.
The task force is to present its findings and proposed legislation to the president pro tem of the state Senate by November 30th.
