OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma is getting a new song that's intended to complement the state song "Oklahoma."

Oklahoma natives Jimmy Webb and Vince Gill have written a song called "Oklahoma Rising" that remembers the state's early days and touches on the Dust Bowl, the Oklahoma City bombing and the start of the 21st century.

Webb wrote the lyrics and Gill wrote the music and Webb says they weren't trying to write a new state song -- but a song about the state. He says they came up with an energetic song that he has a good feeling about.

The song will debut during a private event September 11th at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City.
