Eastern Oklahoma authorities are cracking down on drunk drivers ahead of Labor Day.

The Broken Arrow Police Department is one of several agencies planning to step up their patrols over the next two weeks. They say you'll see traffic checkpoints and more officers on the streets.

It's all aimed at keeping drunk drivers off the road. Broken Arrow Police Sgt. Ed Ferguson: “unfortunately we see alcohol in the mix all too often when people are doing their holiday celebrations and they make the poor choice of getting behind the wheel of a vehicle when they do so."

The crackdown starts Friday and runs through Labor Day, September 4th.
