It's been a busy summer for crews working to complete projects at Tulsa Public Schools. Several of those projects will wrap up on time, but not all of them. While students and teachers were on summer break, construction crews were hard at work.
At Webster High School, the finishing touches are almost complete on the main building. Workers replaced the old decaying windows on the front of the school with new ones.
The Memorial Charger football team was supposed to have started scrimmaging at LaFortune Stadium, but the field is not finished yet. Crews will start laying down the new turf Monday and will hopefully have it ready in time for the first kickoff.
Tulsa Public Schools bond director Bob LeBass: "Should take them about a week for them to get it all down. Then they'll have to go back and cut numbers in and do the final prep, but we're looking to be ready for the first game."
Both Memorial and Edison high school will use the new stadium as well. Each team will also have their own home locker rooms. The track around the field won't be completed until September or October.
LaBass says construction started late on the stadium because crews had to wait until the soccer season ended. But he says it won't affect any football games.
