Oklahoma City Police say a case of discipline gone to far has landed an Oklahoma City man behind bars.

27-year old Tony Valle is accused of pouring lye on a 6 year old boy after the child asked to go to the bathroom. The boy's mother left him alone with Valle.

Police say this is a tragic reminder to parents, to be careful about who you let watch your child. Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Paco Balderrama: "Being a parent, you have a big responsibility as to who's going to be taking care of you children. You can't just leave your kids with everybody and obviously leaving them with this Tony Valle was a bad choice."

The boy was treated for his burns and is now in DHS custody.

State officials had just placed the child and his siblings back with their mother in June.
