OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City police are seeing an increase in the number thefts of air conditioning units.

And officers say the thieves aren't taking them because of the heat -- but for the copper and metal.

Parts from an air conditioning unit can be sold for $100 or more for scrap metal and the copper wiring.

Among the recent victims is a convalescent center where 12 air conditioning units were stolen in one night recently.
